2016! The year Ariana Grande will be assassinated by Mariah Carey! The year Night Tube won’t happen! The year the amount of Prets in London will surpass the amount of people. But most importantly, the year Village Bar turns 25! Wooo! *pulls party popper*

Village is a stalwart of the Soho scene. It presides over Old Compton Street. All-knowing, chic and well-established. A bit like Galadriel. Yes, it’s the Elven Queen of London’s gay scene.

It was the first gay bar in the city to be out and proud! While others were hiding behind blacked out windows and euphemisms, Village had huge open windows with go-go dancers gyrating in them. Camp!

To celebrate their 25th, they’re putting on a right show! Like we did in bed last night *tosses hair*. They’ve got a new look! They’ve got a new program! They’ve got drinks that’ll blow your HEAD off! They’ve got go-go boys that’ll blow your…NOPE, stop it.

“It was the first gay bar in the city to be out and proud!”

They’ve got four bars. FOUR. Probably even Joan Collins doesn’t have four bars. And they’re all spread out over three floors. So if one bar’s too busy, or, y’know, if you don’t look as good as you’d like in the lighting, or, you know, WHATEVER, you can just go to one of the other bars! Hooray! And one of their grinningly gorgeous bar staff will serve you a lovely cool double vodka diet coke. It doesn’t have to be that, that’s just what we’d choose.

We asked head honcho of Village Greg Hughes to tell us more about themselves;

“Whatever your looking for, we’ve got it all,” says Greg “from the best in pop & chart and commercial classics in the Soho Bar to the finest deep tech beats in the revamped Basement Club. Featuring the cream of London’s dance scene DJs from super clubs like Fire and Beyond with residents Gonzalo Rivas, Paul Heron, Massimo Paramour & Gordon John. There’s quiet chilled vibes in the café bar too, and the new stylish upmarket cocktail bar on the top floor – with panoramic views right up Old Compton Street.”

Doesn’t that sound lovely! They’ve got extended hours too open way later on weekdays, AND there’s happy hour from 5-8pm. And of course, it’s always free entry. To top it off, they’re having a huge Christmas party, The Boxing Day Cracker – its gonna be a RIGHT cracker! Followed swiftly by their huge New Year’s Eve party. For a fiver, you can get a queue jump ticket and a glass of champagne! Wooo!

Apparently they’ve got a new ‘something for everyone’ policy. Can’t argue with that can you! So bring you mum! Bring your straight mate Clive! Bring Sharon from HR. Because they’ll all LOVE it. And never fear. With it’s ever-increasing popularity and welcoming, gorgeous atmosphere, you certainly WON’T be the only gay in the Village! (lolz).
