QX PREVIEW: Jonny Woo’s All Star Brexit Cabaret

The all-singing, all-high-kicking take on Brexit arrives at Soho Theatre

WHAT’S GOING ON WITH BREXIT? Who fucking knows! Sometimes if something is a great cause of stress and fear, the best way to address it is through comedy, and East London scene legend Jonny Woo does so with characteristic aplomb in this all-singing, all-dancing, all-high-kicking show.

Having already enjoyed a road-blockingly successful stint at the London Coliseum, it’s back this time at the Soho Theatre. Jonny combines cheeky satire with filthy and often wonderfully surreal musical numbers, which send up the cast of the whole Brexit charade – in the original run, Nigel Farage was played by a black bearded drag queen called Le Gateau Chocolat, so that gives you a bit of an idea of the general tone.

Jonny’s wry, birdlike comedy is magnetic, and there are also great turns from glam new romantic Adam Perchard and songstress Sooz Kempner as well as Richard Thomas and Kevin Davis.

It’s anarchic, fun and frivolous. Everything the British government is NOT. This is its last week, so grab some tickets quick!

Jonny Woo’s All Star Brexit Cabaret is at the Soho Theatre until Saturday 8th June. Tickets and timings available at sohotheatre.com
