Ghosts, Goblins and Gay Bingo – the crooked creatures of The Glory Halloween Ball.
It’s that time of year again ghosties! Throw on a pointy hat and a warty nose, things are about to get witchy. To celebrate this year’s Halloween, also known as gay Christmas, East London’s favourite rag-tag drag bar is throwing an EXTRAVAGANZA. Brace your sphincters for The Glory’s Halloween Ball. Don’t you just love a huge Ball in your face?
To the grand, vaudeville stage of the Hackney Empire comes an army of blood-stained drag beasts. Depraved duo Jonny Woo and John Sizzle are taking over the historic building with enough filth to fill a stadium. They are joined with some of the biggest names working the London cabaret and club scene, each like a tasty treat in the bottom of your trick or treat bag. Just keep an eye out for glass shards and razor blades. The up and coming stars of Lipsync1000 and QX Cabaret Award-winning event ManUp! will also be taking to the stage for a spider-webbed display.
The evening will feature a real-life res-erection of the infamous Gay Bingo. For years it has been lying dormant in its bedazzled tomb, but not for much longer. Get those number cards at the ready and prick a finger to get stamping.
For one night, and one night only, a Ouija board session gone wrong will summon all these curious queer critters onto one stage:
Jonny Woo
An East London legend. An enigma wrapped up in fishnet stocking and shoved into a gaudy pair of stilettos.
John Sizzle
The prosecco-guzzling baroness of The Glory. A toke-sucking, cross-dressing fiend who’s hungry for flesh.
Ma Butcher
She’s got blood on her snout. International style guru and real-life inspiration for seminal feature film Babe: Pig in the City.
Séayoncé
Mystic Meg’s long lost half sister-in-law. Ghost whispering drag sensation.
Cazeleon
Gorgeous, glamorous and grey-scale. Bint with a belting voice.
Chiyo
He’s the crotch-grabbing, hip thrusting performer with a heart of golden political activism.
Camileleon
The witchiest queen working. Astrologer-cum-tarot card reader with killer dance moves.
Rhys’ Pieces
Punchy, powerful and proud. Stomping across the stage to an Azealia Banks track, having you sinking in your seat.
Oedipussy Rex
Garlanded and horned up, Oedipussy is not someone you want to meet down a dark alley at night.
Kate Butch
The self proclaimed “Comic Sans of drag”. A York queen three years in the making.
Sooz Kempner
Sit right down for Sooz’s stand-up. Fringe darling making musical comedy her own.
Sex Shells
Equal parts stimulating and sensual. Camp sketch comedy threesome.
Myra Dubois
The Siren from South Yorkshire. She’s either still going or back from the dead. We’re not sure.
Margo Marshall
Moves like Madonna, hips like a snake. Mz Marshall is all shades of Madame X.
Georgie Bee
Shoe designer by day, drag queen by night. A punctual pro-nude professional.
DJ Chaka Khan’t
Big tunes, mega bops and a whole archive of ghost noises to mix into them. Petras by the pint-full.
The Glory Halloween Ball is on Saturday, 26th October at the Hackney Empire, 291 Mare Street E8 1EJ. Grab your tickets at HackneyEmpire.co.uk.
