WEEKEND PLAYLIST - Michelle Manetti selects some of her faves

Weekend playlist from super suave DJ Michelle Manetti

As well as running her own club night Fèmmme Fraîche (now in it’s 4th year), Michelle Manetti recently set up the Fraîche Fruit offshoot offering DJ workshops to queer, womxn, trans and non-binary folk, to help launch some new home-grown talent.

Ahead of her debut set at Berlin Berlin: Halloween Edition on Saturday October 19th,  Michelle shares her current dance floor faves.

1. ‘Japonica’ Gina Breeze Remix – Hannah Holland ft. Ghost Culture (Batty Bass)

Hannah and Gina are both pals of mine and two of my favourite producers, consistently putting out solid bangers, so this acid-tinged collab between the two is a killer combo. It’s on Hannah’s own label Batty Bass and has been a mainstay in my sets since it was released earlier this year.

2. ’One Man’s House Is Another Woman’s Techno’ –  Lauren Flax (The Bunker NY)

Another friend of mine and once again another one of my fave producers, Lauren’s really churning out some incredible Acid House right now and this one on The Bunker New York is a particular fave.

3. Second Phase – Mentasm (R&S Records)

I’m really into early 90s Rave sounds at the moment, and I’ve been revisiting the R&S records back-catalogue which is one of my fave labels and seminal in that sound. Some absolute classics on that label including Jaydee’s ‘Plastic Dreams’, Capricorn’s ’20hz’, Joey Beltram’s ‘Energy Flash’ among many, all of which I play on the regs, so it’s hard to pick one, but Second Phase ‘Mentasm’ really epitomises that rave sound.

4. ‘Do What You Feel’ – Chrissy (Chiwax)

Chrissy is also one of my fave producers right now and crosses between old skool Rave sounds, Acid and Disco-tinged bangers, all of which is right up my street and genres I straddle. ‘Do What You Feel’ is from Chrissy’s ‘Resilience’ LP, which is proper packed full of killer tracks, but this one is a real ‘hand’s-in-the-air’ anthemic rave sounding fave – And it’s on Chiwax, which is another of my all time fave labels.

5. ‘Baby Baby’ Alexander Technique Remix – The Carry Nation (Get Up Recordings)

The Carry Nation are super solid producers and Alexander Technique has had some ace remixes out in the last few months, so again another happy combo. ‘Baby Baby’ is a hand’s-in-the-air disco pumper, the original is awesome but Alexander Technique just adds a little crunch and steps it up a notch turning into a chunky techno disco banger. Get Up Recordings, is also a queer supporting NYC based label, with a wicked catalogue worth checking.

Michelle Manetti is playing Berlin Berlin Halloween this Saturday 19th October at Egg London, 200 York Way, N7 9AX. 11pm – 7am. £10 with guestlist (hit attending on Facebook), £25 without.
