Halfway, Down The Stairs – This week’s antics at the Trafalgar Square drinking den

Halfway To Heaven

Thursday is the new Friday at Charing Cross cabaret show-bar Halfway to Heaven, and PRAISE CELINE because central London really needs more LGBTQ+ cabaret on Thursdays, especially as it’s the night all the best people go out. You knew that already, right?

We adore Halfway because it’s been consistently serving up quality cabaret for decades and it always feels warm and welcoming. This week, cabaret editor Jason Reid writes on what to expect from the new Thursdays this month ...

6th February

Me & Jew

Everyone loves a good double-act, especially one that is built on genuine mutual respect and love. Me & Jew – comprising of drag stalwart Rose Garden and powerhouse vocalist Phil Lawrence – is just that. There will be camp comedy, a libation or twelve, renditions of pop classics, audience participation, and of course lashings of distinctive Halfway cheer.

13th February

Tanya Hyde

When this queen is not in Gran Can topping up her tan and entertaining the gays, she struts from one cabaret stage to another here in London… entertaining the gays. If you’re passionate about musical theatre and Disney then you’ll love Tanya’s turn, and she always has a tale or two to share about her exploits. AND she always looks lawless!

20th February

Backing the Stars Karaoke

Wanna channel your inner Dua Lipa, Adele, Britney, or Whitney? Then Kevin Walsh’s Backing the Stars is the night for you. As karaoke nights go, this is up there as one of the best and most popular in London. Kevin has been hosting karaoke for 20 years, and his nights continues to attract a legion of diverse and dedicated karaoke fans, so get yourself along and warble to your hearts content.

27th February

Marsha Mallow

Marsha has become a firm favourite on the gay pub cabaret scene since reaching the semi-finals of Drag Idol in 2016. She’s funny, a skilled singer, and very likeable. A triple threat. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her on Drag Race UK in the next couple of years – so you should get those selfies taken now, before she starts charging! From ballads to party tunes, Marsha brings the variety and it’s impossible to come away from one of her shows not smiling.

Halfway To Heaven is at 7 Duncannon Street, WC2N 4JF. Open midday – midnight from Monday to Thursday, midday – 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and midday – 10pm on Sundays.
