London’s much loved LGBTQIA theatre, Above The Stage, is to take a short COVID break after the final performance of it’s hit panto Dick Whittington on the 16 January 2022. They intend to return on the 1 March 2022

The management of Above The Stag announced the move to take a break on their social media and cited ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Above The Stag said, “Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and to avoid further disruption, Above The Stag Theatre & Bar will take a short break until 1 March after the final performance of Dick Whittington on 16 January. Our February production of Fame Whore will no longer go ahead. Ticket holders will be refunded in full. All performances of Dick Whittington are set to go ahead as scheduled. Thank you for your continuing support.”

The news comes after the recent cancellation of VaultFestival, and the closure of several other London theatre productions as COVID infection rates and hospitalisations have increased in recent days.

For those of you who haven’t yet seen Dick Whittington, the theatre critics darling of this years panto season, tickets are still available at Above The Stag.
