Froot.TV, the leading LGBTQ+ streaming platform from OUTtv, today announced “Sew Fierce”, a new competition series showcasing the craft of drag, where designers and costumers compete in weekly challenges to create new looks, hosted by Barbada De Barbardes and with design mentor Jaime Lujan aka Lucinda Miu. The new season will premiere on Friday 14th, April 2023, in the UK.

“Sew Fierce” will see eight of the world’s top drag designers compete to win the first-ever drag designer competition and a cash prize of $10,000. Each week the designers will create a look based on a theme and then complete a photoshoot to showcase their designs modelled by up-and-coming drag artists. The judges evaluate the looks based on the appearance and construction of the garments, eliminating one designer each week. Guest appearances on the show include Priyanka, Evan Clayton, NIQ van der Aa (a.k.a. Freya Frostbite), Spikey Van Dykey, Chad Hurst, Kiki Coe, Stephanie Benadetto, and The Villbergs.

Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: “Sew Fierce is a first-of-a-kind show, taking viewers behind the scenes of drag costume. The talent of the designers is second to none, and we are excited to take viewers on a fabulous journey through fashion and costume within the lens of drag.”

Barbada de Barbardes, the host of “Sew Fierce”, added: “The creativity of the contestants exemplifies the drag spirit and talent within the community. Each designer brought their stories and experiences to each of their designs, and I cannot wait to show the world their talent in all its glory”.

The eight-episode series is a Froot and OUTtv original produced by Sonic Nursery. Froot is the UK arm of OUTtv’s SVOD offering – the world’s first LGBTQ+ television and streaming service dedicated to telling stories by and for the community.
