Drag Idol UK 2024 is back!

The official launch party of Drag Idol 2024 is taking place at The Two Brewers, Clapham, on Thursday, 22nd February at 9pm and will be hosted by the face of Drag Idol UK, Son Of A Tutu (2011 Winner), with performances by:

2023 Two Brewers representative – Amaya Napa

2023 Finalist – The Tiny Gentlemen

2023 Finalist – Blu Romantic

2023 Finalist – Gladys Duffy

2019 Winner – Karla Bear

2014 Winner – LoUis CyFer

2013 Winner – Martha D’Arthur

The competition is as big as ever, with at least 25 host venues taking part in England, Scotland and Wales, where contestants will compete to represent their chosen venue on the national stages, culminating in a glorious grand final on 20th June hosted by Son Of A Tutu!

As with last year, Martha D’Arthur will be reporting for Drag Idol UK and QX with weekly bulletins, regular updates and more “Stripped” sessions with previous winners.

Martha told us, “I’m incredibly proud to be part of the competition again this year. I had a lot of fun with the weekly bulletins and the standard and quality of the acts last year was amazing! We are at the mercy of whoever chooses to compete, but it would be nice to see more diversity as always.”

“Last year’s winner “, Fruit N Fibre”, was so different and unique, I hope we’ll see more of her around the country soon. It’s a shame they’re in Norway for the launch party this year, but we’ll catch up with them very soon, I’m sure. And we had some great acts last year that didn’t make it to the finals. Will Power really stands out in my memory, as well as That Girl, to name just a couple, and it’s so nice to see some of last year’s alumni getting out there and working! And we’ve got a couple of new venues taking part this year in areas of the country previously untapped!!! And we’re also finalising a slightly different format for the Grand Final! So I’m looking forward to a very exciting year. Bring it on!”

Drag Idol UK are looking for Drag Kings, Drag Queens, Gender Benders, Trans performers, Singers, Magicians, Balloon Modellers – the list is endless – no matter who you are or what you do, if you think you can entertain a crowd, show us what you’ve got!!! The Winner will receive a fully paid gig in each participating venue around the UK (that’s over £6000).

Previous winners include: Kelly Mild, Son Of A Tutu, Baga Chipz, LoUis CyFer, Felix Le Freak, Tracy Barlow, Tanya Hyde, Kevin Cruise, Mercedes and the Bendz, The Fleurettes, La Voix, Martha D’Arthur, Karla Bear, Miss Moppe, Danny Beard and Fruit N Fibre.
