Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbian premiers off-West End at The Courtyard Theatre on 3 – 6 December 2024 before touring the UK in 2025.
The holiday season is a time for family, love, and celebration. Em’s show brings a light-hearted but meaningful exploration of life, love and family, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals. Em brings her signature blend of stand-up, improv and clowning to the stage, promising an evening of fun, joy and a few surprises.
This is the third in a trilogy of one-woman shows in which Em looks backwards at her life. In her first two shows,Coming Out Of My Box (for which she won Best LGBTQ+ Performance at The Planet Awards) she explored her coming out journey. Her second show, Me : Em, describes Em working out who she is and how she wants to be in the world.Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbianis a hilarious backwards look at times Em put herself in situations where she was out of control so she could learn to let go and just “be”.
Audiences will be treated to stories from her life, touching on coaching, confidence, wellness, gay parenting, therapy, lesbianism, marriage, meditation and motorbikes.
Em has collaborated with Didi Hopkins to craft large and tiny theatrical moments, laughter and warmth. Known for her work in both contemporary theatre and traditional Commedia dell’Arte as well as with artists such as Miles Jupp and Eddie Izzard, Didi brings her experience of theatre-making to amplify Em’s unique talent, humour and theatricality to engage and delight all audiences.
“During the holidays, we’re often reminded of love and acceptance, and I want this show to be a celebration of all those things,”Em says. “It’s an invitation to laugh at life’s quirks, to reflect, and most importantly, to come together.”
Expect singing, silly props and heartfelt moments, as Em guarantees a performance that will leave you smiling. It’s a feel-good show that offers a little bit of something for everyone, making it the perfect way to kick off the festive season.
Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbian will run Tuesday 3rd December, Wednesday 4th and Friday 6th December 2024 at The Courtyard Theatre, London before touring the UK in 2025.
