Queeriosities — the UK’s largest queer art and makers fair — returns to Peckham’s Copeland Gallery on October 2–4, bringing together more than 50 LGBTQIA+ artists, designers and independent makers. Across the three-day fair, visitors can meet and shop directly from queer artists, browse the curated fine art exhibition, and enjoy one of the most vibrant and vital queer cultural weekends in London.
Now entering its fifth edition, last year’s fair saw nearly 3,000 visitors across the weekend and generated tens of thousands of pounds in direct revenue for the artists.
From original paintings and drawings to hand-thrown ceramics, jewellery, apparel and vintage queer publications and ephemera, the fair offers a window into queer creativity today. This year’s lineup includes exciting new voices like artist and illustrator Bee (aka Beeillustrates), painter Adam Baker, ceramicist Fredde Lanka and artist RTiiiKA, alongside returning favourites such as Richard Kilroy, Lily Deason, happbellyman, Oli Raptor and The Common Press.
The fair opens on Friday evening with a special ticketed preview for collectors, tastemakers and press. Entry on Saturday and Sunday is free for all.
This year’s feature fine-art exhibition, Here We Go Again, features new work by six bold queer artists: Winnona Hedgeland (aka Foundry Wench), Tom Hemingway, Sandy Kiralawella, Jingyi Li, Ailsa Ogden and Joey Terrill. Curated by Davy Pittoors, the exhibition explores queer “truth” in a moment when we face increasingly unstable and competing realities.
Together, the artists’ works span hyperrealistic graphite drawing, lacemaking, large-scale mixed-media installation, painting and metal forging. This exhibition also marks the first UK presentation of a work from Los Angeles Chicano artist Joey Terrill’s multimedia Still-Life series, which incorporates his HIV medications from the AIDS crisis directly on the canvas.
