Owner Gary Henshaw and his then business partner, Michael Joyce, first opened Ku Bar in a two-floor mezzanine space in Charing Cross Road in 1995, and it quickly filled with twinks. Gary then took Ku to Lisle Street in 2007, and he invested everything to make the much grander bar a success.

In the intervening 30 years, Ku has gone from strength to strength. Gary can’t help but bring in the decorators ignorer to keep the venues at the top of their game, and he has built on Ku’s success story by adding queer spaces to the Ku family—including SHE Soho, Little Ku, Klub, and Ku Lounge.

As a big thank you, Ku is now offering *30% off all drinks to their KUDOS APP members and is available Monday – Friday until 9pm during the period leading up to the huge celebratory party on Saturday 6th December 2025.

The Ku 30th Birthday Party then kicks off with drag cabaret shows from 7pm on the 6th December 2025. The bubbles will flow, goodie bags will be given, and a generous free raffle will help ramp up the excitement. Resident DJs Dan Devlin and Lloyd-Paul Dixon will be behind the decks to keep the party swinging until late.
