Artemis is a queer art party and exhibit held monthly on a Sunday afternoons at Imaginarium Gallery at 185 Drury Lane, London. The next party will be on Sunday, 17 November, 4 pm – 10 pm. Artemis is a participatory event for creatives to meet, share, and play.
Help them build an atmosphere of creative hedonism
Bring your work and experiment with new ideas in a supportive environment! There is a Dark Room, Vape Room and Chill Rooms. Held at the Imaginarium Gallery, this is an intimate, immersive exhibit space in 5 rooms.
Artemis are also looking for submissions from artists of all types who would like to present or perform their work, be it visual performance applied, including makeup, tattoo, costume, fashion, video, dance, theatre, and anything creative is welcome. The event is sex-positive and trans-inclusive.
QX had a quick chat with Joan from Artemis to find out more about the gallery and this exciting event
Could you tell us more about the Imaginarium Gallery in Drury Lane?
The Imaginarium Gallery is a venue for immersive art exhibits on Drury Lane. It hosts mainstream exhibits during the day and more artist alternative focused events in the evenings.
What inspired you to create Artemis?
I wanted to create a sex positive space for creatives to meet and hang out with other creatives. I was inspired by the famous salons of Paris and Berlin where queer artists could express themselves and inspire others.
What kind of participants do you hope Artemis will attract?
Any sort of artist or creative, applied arts, video, photography, painting, basket weaving, buttons, scultping, drawing, lute making, engraving, cabaret, drag, burlesque, puppetry, poets writers anyone and everyone with an idea to share and those that appreciate them. Even better if you are throughly dissolute, debauched, and perverse. Don’t worry, you’ll fit right in!
What can participants expect on the day?
Our event is a grand dream and really depends on the people who decide to come. Over time our participants will help us build something truly special. Our first events will include an immersive exhibit based on submitted art work, chill rooms, dark room, social rooms, music. We will have social icebreakers as well as some talented aspiring performers. Tentatively, our first event has a shibari rope art installation/performance scheduled.
