Following the successful launch of Club Bodega in December 2024, the team behind this monthly queer Latinx event is returning, this time paying homage to Bahia. This Brazilian state of Bahia is known for having the largest Afro-descendant population in the country and is also a major producer of music and arts. The February edition promises guests an immersive experience, allowing them to taste the flavours, hear the sounds, feel the beats, and learn the traditional moves of Bahia.
Club Bodega is not just a brunch; it’s a celebration of Latin American culture with a queer twist. The event will transform The Carpet Shop into a welcoming space inspired by the warmth of a Latin American home. Guests can look forward to a specially curated menu created by the resident restaurant, Taquiza, featuring brunch classics and cocktails. The atmosphere will be enriched by DJs MS.G, RATAPRINCESS, KAPP, and Club Bodega’s own C’ez Bon, who will blend house and disco with Latin rhythms. Attendees can expect to dance to perreo, baile funk, samba, merengue, cumbia, salsa, and, for this edition, Bahia’s vibrant axé music.

London is one of the most diverse cities in the world. However, despite the growing Latinx population, the city still lacks inclusive spaces that celebrate the intersection of queer and Latinx identities. For founder Cezar Almeida, Club Bodega aims to fill this gap by creating a vibrant space where community, culture, and joy can thrive.
“As someone who has always loved the East London queer scene, I felt a lack of space to celebrate my own culture, especially considering that London has such a large Latinx community. We are finally seeing somany new labels rising with the Latincore and Brazilcore trend. I love the Perreo and the baile funk vibe. This is all I have been waiting for. Club Bodega is another piece of this Latin America puzzle. We want to bring the late 80s/90s Latin house tunes blended with the current Western hits. It’s a party for everyone, and it’s about going back home feeling good.”
Cezar, Club Bodega
In an era marked by growing polarization and societal uncertainty—evident in events such as the recent US elections and Brexit—spaces like Club Bodega are more essential than ever. Latin American culture places a strong emphasis on community and resilience, fostering joy and connection even in difficult times. This spirit is at the core of Club Bodega, which provides a safe and celebratory environment for everyone.
“As a foreigner, you often face challenges that can be difficult to explain to locals. I have been fortunate to be here and meet people from various cultures. Despite our different experiences, beliefs, and backgrounds, we have always found strength in coming together and looking after one another. This is the essence of what Club Bodega represents.”
