G-A-Y FEATURING CHER LLOYD

18/02/12: It was high time that perhaps the most controversial teeny-bopper in contemporary British pop, the Marmite of our nation’s latest onslaught of mainstream artists, took to the stage at Heaven to face her ultimate judgement day.

So Cher Lloyd emerged, legs first – print jumpsuit spray-painted to her slender frame – ready to face the ram-packed main floor alone, not a backing dancer or DJ in sight. A flick of her auburn mane – and her husky voice had forayed into the first track, ‘With Ur Love’; a catchy, current-as-they-come pop ditty that had the guys beside me hot-wukking those hips – though none harder than homegirl herself!

The 60s-esque, foot-tapping track ‘Superhero’ followed in second – before Cher launched into hip-hop ballad ‘End Up Here’.

The notorious rapping style that both riled and won her favour amongst the British masses during X Factor 2010 wasn’t amiss either, eliciting cheers and curt side glances at companions from the crowd alike.

After a brief water break, where we were duly reminded that behind the Croydon Duchess or Essex Empress avatar was in fact a chipper little Northern-accented charmer, before we were treated to the bassy, bubbly ‘Want You Back’ finishing the set – and not a ‘Swagger Jagger’ in sight! Cher accepted her flowers, feigning a cheeky ignorance about forgetting that track back at home – and headed on her way. Love it! The jury may still be out – but either way, in the song lyrics of the woman herself, Cher will simply ‘be what she be’!
