G-A-Y – THE RISK, JOHNNY ROBINSON AND GINA G

12/11/11: G-A-Y supremo Jeremy Joseph lifted the lid on yet another star-studded blockbuster as the Heaven arches went into meltdown for a live triple-whammy last weekend.

Featuring the latest two acts to be voted off this year’s X-Factor, judge and mentor, Tulisa Contostavlos, caused a glamorous stir, arriving in a blacked-out people-carrier amidst a flurry of flashbulbs to join The Risk on stage.

Performing three songs, including their take on Plan B’s ‘She Said’; to use an X-Factor turn of phrase, the boys more than ‘nailed it’ with the G-A-Y masses. But the biggest roar of the evening went to camp-as-Butlins Johnny Robinson or, as we like to call him, the ‘disco Charles Hawtrey’, resplendent in red sequins and Primark sunglasses.

Whipping out a scarlet fan for a back-catalogue retrospective taking in Kylie, Dead or Alive and Amy Winehouse, we can only wonder what delights might have been in store if only he’d made it through to the final. Backstage, this year’s most controversial contestant, Frankie Cocozza, even made a surprise appearance, snuggling up to Jeremy.

Meanwhile, there were even more thrills to come as G-A-Y perennial, Gina G, took the headline slot. Working up a storm with an extended set, the 90s Eurovision stunna showcased new single ‘Next 2 U’ and a remixed ‘Ooh Ah (Just A Little Bit)’ that had the floor erupting in a frenzy of camera phones before the party continued with hours of fun and frolics across four fabulous rooms.

Don’t miss Olly Murs and Kitty Brucknell this Saturday as the G-A-Y machine cranks it up again!
