Queer Nature After Hours

Oct 21, 2023 @ 6:30 pm10:30 pm
£19
Kew Queer Nature at Kew Gardens

The founding members of Trans Voices will perform original vocal soundscapes that are utterly distinctive, filling the Temperate House with soaring musical interludes. Be More Mushroom Cabaret welcomes you to Chanterelle’s, a place with no morels! The mushroom performers will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew. The Queer Comedy Club brings their best comedians to celebrate Queer Nature at Kew. Join Timberlina (they/them) as they host a series of irreverent performance rituals celebrating the healing powers of queer nature where you can embrace your eco-anxiety, release your rage and summon your innate queer power. Theatrical DJ and horticulturalist Auntie Maureen (they/them/she/her) will be filling the rafters of the Temperate house with Queer tuneology galore, playing songs and jingles to dance to. Catch Beau Jangles (he/him) sings songs of lament, love, capitalism and Little Shop of Horrors and allow yourself to be seduced by this time-travelling, sophisticated and sultry king of the 1940s. Bi-Curious George (he/him) will broadcast immersive parody-monologues set to soaring classical scores. Expect cabaret, parody songs, lip-syncs, dancing, and sparkly costumes. Hosted by Ben Walters (he/him) at the Badge Café, you can fertilise your own little round patch of queer nature at this crafty utopian hangout. Badge café puts old pics, books and mags to fresh badge-making use. It’s easy, welcoming and fun. Enjoy delicious food and drink at the Pavilion Bar and Grill and the pop-up food and drink stalls around the Temperate House. View the menu at https://www.kew.org/sites/default/files/2023-09/Queer%20Nature%20After%20Hours%20Menu.pdf . The Queer Nature talks programme with Kew experts will be announced shortly.

Over 18s only.
