A society for “gaymers”, LGBT fans of gaming.
With all the hoo-hah about the Nintendo Switch, social gaming is having a bit of resurgence. LDN Gaymers is a group that aims to bring together LGBTQ+ gamers to meet up and nerd off.
The group was set up in 2016 as a reaction against the homophobia and loneliness that’s often rife in the gaming community, as well as to offer LGBTQ+ people another space to socialise.
The group meet up on the third Wednesday of the month at The Old School Yard in Borough, where they have both new and retro consoles for members to use, as well as board games and a VR station. They also have a geek quiz on the second Thursday of the month at The Roebuck pub on Great Dover Street. As well as that, they also frequently organise trips to the cinema, laser quest, game conventions and other places.
