ScotsCare are looking out for LGBTQ Scots at this year’s Pride

They’re a charity who help out underprivileged LGBTQ Scots living in the UK

The 400-year-old charity takes to Soho Square to celebrate London’s Scottish LGBT+ community

After the success of their participation in last year’s Pride in London, ScotsCare are back this year, spreading the word about their work supporting low-income Scottish people living here in London.

Offering a range of support services, they’re taking Pride as an opportunity to focus on the LGBT+ people in the London Scottish community who are in need of some help, or anyone looking to get involved with lending a helping hand in the Greater London area.

They are a charity dedicated to offering financial, practical and emotional support to 1st and 2nd generation Scots in London and the surrounding areas. They support their clients with a wide range of services from financial support, advocacy, counselling to sheltered housing, training and job coaching and much more.

Time and again studies show that LGBT+ people tend to be worse off when it comes to social isolation, with the numbers of LGBT+ people who suffer loneliness in older age being wildly disproportionate. ScotsCare have seen great success in providing social spaces for older Scottish people to get together and socialise in a positive environment, with free events for the Over 50s including a monthly lunch in London and Luton. Their latest project also sees people of all ages coming together for the ScotsCare Choir, which is free and open to all those looking to get involved with the charity.

If you’re looking to get involved with the charity by giving your time then they have plenty of opportunities to volunteer, from helping with their social events to being a Blether Buddy befriender. As with any charity, donations are always welcome through their website no matter how much you have to give.

If you are a Scot in London and in need of some support, or know someone who could benefit from the services that ScotsCare provide you can call them on 0800 652 2928 or send an email to [email protected] to find out more.

ScotsCare will be at stall one in Soho Square from 12:00 to 8:00pm on the 6th of July. You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter (@ScotsCare) and Instagram(@ScotsCareLDN). To find out more about this charity, visit ScotsCare.com
