Pride Month 10K Walk & Celebration brings together the LGBTQ+ community, allies, supporters, and local residents for a day of visibility, solidarity, celebration, and fundraising in Hammersmith.

Starting at Civic Campus, participants will enjoy a scenic 10km riverside walk along the Thames before gathering for a lively Pride celebration at The Black Lion, featuring entertainment, food, and community spirit.

Now firmly established as a highlight of the Pride calendar, this event raises crucial funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) while also emphasizing the importance of communities and charities coming together to support one another.

“It’s hard to believe this event is now in its fourth year. During the planning of the inaugural Walk and Afterparty in 2023, I learned about my friend Zoe’s diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). I saw firsthand how little funding and attention the disease receives. That’s why we chose to transform this event into a fundraiser for the cause.”

Aubrey Crawley, WLQP CEO.

MND, or motor neurone disease, is a neurological condition that can shorten a person’s life. It affects the nerves responsible for movement, leading to progressive muscle weakness. This weakness can impact various functions, including walking, talking, eating, drinking, and breathing. Symptoms differ from one individual to another and typically worsen over time. However, support, treatment, and the right equipment can help individuals manage their symptoms and maintain their quality of life.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association plays a crucial role in supporting individuals living with motor neurone disease (MND), as well as their families and caregivers. The charity provides practical, emotional, and financial assistance to those affected by MND. Additionally, it advocates for improved care and funding for groundbreaking research in the field.

Participants will begin gathering at 10:00 AM at Civic Campus in Hammersmith. The walk will officially start at 11:00 AM, following a group warm-up.

We will start at Civic Campus and make our way down to the River Thames, crossing Hammersmith Bridge. After that, we will follow the Thames Path along the south side of the river, passing through the beautiful areas of Barnes and Mortlake. We will then cross back over to the north side of the river via Chiswick Bridge.

The final stretch will take us along the Thames Path through Dukes Meadows and Chiswick Mall, concluding at the Black Lion Pub. The route will be clearly marked, maps will be available, and marshals will be on duty throughout the entire walk.

After the walk, attendees can enjoy a celebration from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, hosted by YsHee Black and featuring performances by Adam All, Tom Heath, and Lola Lasagne.

Each ticket includes:

● Entry to the 10K walk and afterparty
● A Progressive Pride Flag
● A pint of lager or a soft drink

The event is expected to attract supporters from across London and beyond, uniting people through Pride, visibility and charitable action.

Aubrey Crawley added: “I hope you will join us this year as we celebrate Pride Month, come together as a community, enjoy the beautiful sights of West London, and experience fantastic live music, food and community spirit — all while supporting an incredibly important cause.”
