History was made in sparkling style on Saturday when hundreds of people turned up and turned it out in the sun for London’s first ever Trans Pride.

The event started at Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner, with a march down Piccadilly, then Shaftesbury Avenue and through Soho, finishing up with speeches at Soho Square.

Hundreds of trans people and allies were there showing their support and soliditary, waving the pink, white and blue rainbow flag and chanted “Trans rights are human rights!”

Police were present in case of opposition from far right and trans-exclusionary feminist groups, but in the end no counter-protests materialised.
