Don’t Drag Out 2019 – New Years Eve at The LaLit, London

New Years Eve The LaLit NYE

Yes, Gawd! Boutique hotel The LaLiT London hosts star-studded New Year’s Eve ball.

Asky anyone and they’ll tell you that this year has really dragged. It’s also the year, coincidentally, that drag hit mainstream here in the UK. Celebrating that delicious dichotomy is luxury boutique hotel The LaLiT, who are ringing in the new year with a good old fashioned New Years Eve ball. Topping this year’s bill is RuPaul’s Drag Race fashion creature Raja who’s sure to get to tear the new year a new one.

This decadent evening of revelry beings with East London divine dragling Virgin Extravaganzah hosting a welcome drink of Pommery Brut Silver Champagne. She’s finally free from her nativity duties and is ready to let loose. Once you’re sufficiently socially lubricated, you’ll be led to award-winning pan-Indian dining destination Baluchi, where four sybaritic courses await. From tandoori lobster to a mouth-watering selection of Chef’s special desserts, this is one feast that’s sure to titillate the taste buds and lull you a world of delectable spices.

Then the evening takes a shift gear as a stellar crop of performers descends upon the festivities. Joining the party will be the Vogue-featured alien housewife Juno Birch, burlesque goddess and ass-shaking shake Cleopantha and Bollywood trailblazer Bolly Illusion. This eclectic troupe of eccentric entertainers are sure to have your ribs tickled and your jaw hitting the floor.

Counting down to the stroke of midnight, drag royalty Raja is sure to topple us over to 2020 in style. As the bell tolls midnight, a glass of bubbly will be yours to toast the new year. Sipping bubbles around colourful characters is what New Year’s Eve is all about. We’re almost certain there’s a line in Auld Lang Syne about toasting to an alien housewife drag queen. The evening will be wrapped up by the avant-garde sound stylings of Lewis G Burton, who’ll be playing you into the early hours.

The LaLit London, 181 Tooley Street, Southwark SE1 2JR. Tickets from £35.
