UK resident Drag Queen Sissy Lea is joining the cast of the latest season of Drag Race Italia. She is an Italian Drag Queen and singer who resides in Hertfordshire. Sissy Lea’s drag name is a play on words that pays homage to her origins: “Sissy Lea” from Sicily! It is also a subtle nod to her adoptive home of Hertfordshire in reference to the famous river Lea.
Sissy Lea has been a well-known staple of the UK drag scene since she first stepped onto a stage in Soho in 2019. She performs up and down the country and is a resident drag queen at some of London’s most iconic pubs and bars.
In 2021, she released her first pop single, ‘Camouflage Veil’. “I’m a live singer”, Sissy Lea told QX, “and by singing, I mean I ruin your favourite songs! But I guarantee you will have the best night out at one of my shows.”
The creation of Massimo Malluzzo, Sissy Lea told QX, “I first got into Drag when I started watching the second season of the US version of Drag Race. Then, in 2016, my husband took me to a drag show in Spain, and that’s when I decided I wanted to become a Drag Queen”. Having started her career as a Drag Queen at 40, Sissy wants you to know that it is never too late to follow your dreams!
Sissy Lea will compete for the Drag Race Italia crown with twelve other Queens. The season will be out on 13th October on Paramount+ and WOW Presents Plus.
