Bear club BEEFMINCE arrives at The Steel Yard on 1 March with a stellar lineup of DJs and BEEFMINCE favourites. Staged across two huge industrial dance arches, the lineup includes none other than Pagano! Plus, for the first time, BEEFMINCE has a dedicated area called ‘Head Upstairs’ for those who need a little ‘more’ entertainment. We asked Dan, co-promoter with DJ Silverhook, about the history of this popular club night for bears and what they have in store for us at The Steel Yard and beyond.
What made you start promoting BEEFMINCE, and what’s the history behind one of London’s favourite and longest running bear parties?
We started BEEFMINCE because we felt London’s bear scene wasn’t fully served. Clubs came and went, but nothing ever stuck, and we wanted to create a club environment that was welcoming, fun and didn’t take itself too seriously, hence the name! We launched in 2015 at Corsica Studios in South London and have never stopped! We got our residency at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern soon after, and we’ve been cooking up BEEFMINCE ever since!
How would you describe the crowd to someone who hasn’t been to BEEFMINCE before?
BEEFMINCE is famous for its attitude-free, welcoming crowd; we think we probably have the friendliest (and hottest) crowd in the capital. We primarily cater for the hairy and beary type of gentlemen. But, as the years have gone on, we’ve found our crowd to diversify to accommodate all sections of our fabulous queer community. Our website states,‘Come as you are, we’ll love you for it’, and we mean every word.
What is the music formula at BEEFMINCE?
BEEFMINCE has traditionally merged dance music and pop, but for the first time, we’re able to have two rooms at The Steel Yard; one is the BEEF ROOM, which will play house and techno, and the MINCE ROOM will be more pop, dance and disco. They’ll be something for all types of ears.
Why did you choose The Steel Yard?
In London, we’ve always held our events in iconic venues such as The RVT and Clapham Grand, both of which have a particular look and feel. The Steel Yard is quite different from this. It’s more industrial, more underground, and can accommodate a large crowd comfortably across three railway arches. Some of London’s most iconic club nights have been held here, so we’re honoured to bring BEEFMINCE to these arches.
Tell us about who will be playing on the night.
Our headliner in the BEEF ROOM is international DJ sensation PAGANO, who has solidified his reputation for seamlessly fusing house and techno, adding his unique spin on iconic classics. PARAMOUR will follow him with his distinctive mixture of techno, tech house, and electro that has attracted the attention of many at several major London and international parties. BEEFMINCE DJ and co-promoter SILVERHOOK will open the arch, setting the tone with his groove.
In the MINCE ROOM, CACTUSHEAD will dance the line between pop, dance and disco, and then TUFFCUB will deliver delicious pop remixes and mashups. But first everyone will get on board the pop and disco wagon of JOE EGG.
What else do you have in store for BEEFMINCE?
2025 is our 10th year on the scene, and we’ve already started by announcing two new parties: one in Brighton and one in Birmingham, alongside our monthly residency at The RVT and our Bank Holiday Big Ball bashes at the Clapham Grand and our annual mince up the Thames on our boat party, BOATMINCE. This summer we will be holding a hugeBirthday Party in central London, details to be announced soon but let’s just say bring some sun cream. Plus, we’ll be at Mighty Hoopla again and at a few other festivals. What other club brand gives you that kind of programme!?
BEEFMINCE is on Saturday, 1 March, 11 pm – 5 am, at The Steel Yard, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, City of London, London EC4R 3UE, United Kingdom.
