DJ Cactushead is a well known London based queer DJ and club night promoter with deep roots in the city’s LGBTQ+ scene. His latest venture, Honey Honey, is celebrating Pride with a Pre-Pride Special at Electrowerkz on Friday 3 July 2026. Cactushead told us all about what we can expect on the night.
You’ve established your new club night Honey Honey as a regular monthly party. Tell us about the journey.
It’s been wild. We’ve been so determined with our singular, clear vision to bring a friendly, warm and sweet party to the bear community in London. It is the kind of party I always wanted to go to, sexy, fun and free of judgement. I’m so honoured I get to bring it to the scene.
Honey Honey has seen a couple of changes following feedback from party goers. How has this affected the music policy?
We’ve always had a policy of listening to our crowd. It’s their party, we’re just here to make it happen. We realised that there was a gap in the market for a pure pop bear night, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I love that we bring decades of music knowledge to the table, so it’s the big hits you want, plus the total bops you may have forgotten about. Plus we love new music like Haute & Freddy, Snow Wife and Slayyyter. We’ll be bringing the euphoria AND Euphoria.
And you’ve introduced a new cruising area. That sounds exciting.
We love feedback and people have been asked for it since day one – it’s our most asked question! So yes, in conjunction with the great team at Electrowerkz, we have a space for people to play around and have some fun. It’s very dark and totally has 1980s cruising vibes. We loved coming up with the name… take a trip to our Sweet Spot!
The next Honey Honey party is your big Pride Special and we’d love to know what else we can expect at such a big event.
We’re going all in on this one. We’ve got Dr Woof on board with a special beary Pride Performance, plus Inflateacub, the incredible giant inflatable man (I kid you not) who is putting together a custom Honey Honey costume as we speak. Yes it’s Pride, but it’s also the release date of Madonna’s Confessions II, so how can we not mark that with a solid MADONNA HOUR on the dancefloor? Plus loads of Robyn, as we’re the perfect unofficial afterparty to her O2 gig. Ugh… all this joy!! And still, our stunning courtyard, a fantastic Happy Hour, great drinks offers and completely free candy floss. And all of this for some of the lowest Pride ticket prices in town.
On a personal note, what does Pride mean to you?
This year marks thirty years since my first Pride march. I feel like it’s two steps forward, but seven back. We are in danger of losing our rights in a stunning coup d’etat for the bigots. It’s so important that we glue ourselves together and transcend our minor differences to preserve our hard won rights. Pride is about being clued up, and these days there is no greater act of defiance than simply being visible and feeling free and open to let loose.
Tickets from £9.
Honey Honey Pride Special is on Friday 3rd July 2026, 10pm – 4am, at Electrowerkz, 7 Torrens Street, London EC1V 1NQ ,United Kingdom.
