Ian McKellen stars alongside three-time Laurence Olivier Award winner Roger Allam in a heartwarming story of love, friendship, and the courage to embrace new beginnings at any stage of life.

When Frank (Allam) is a kind-hearted and charming widower. Percy (McKellen), is a witty, flamboyant bachelor. The two cross paths while walking their beloved dogs on Hampstead Heath during a warm spring. Casual chit-chat about heatwaves and London life evolves into something deeper. As their friendship unexpectedly becomes romantic, they must both decide whether to take a chance on love. Equally poignant and funny, Frank and Percy is a story of companionship, of finding connection and having the resilience and courage to remain open-hearted to the possibility of embracing that love. “It’s never too late to fall in love”

The film is adapted from the popular West End play by Ben Weatherill by award-winning screenwriter Martin Sherman, known for works like Mrs Henderson Presents and Bent. Ian McKellen and Roger Allam reprise their roles in this cinematic adaptation, which captures the magic and intimacy of the original play through the storytelling style of internationally acclaimed film and theatre director Sean Mathias, recognised for projects such as The Lost Language of Cranes, Hamlet, and the award-winning Bent.

Frank and Percy is set in and around the sumptuous Hampstead Heath in London. This uplifting story comes to life with a stellar supporting cast, including Stephen Fry, Jessica Gunning, Joanna Lumley, Derek Jacobi, Siân Phillips, Ncuti Gatwa, Hugh Skinner, and Rob Brydon.

The distinguished cast of celebrated old friends includes three Dames and three Knights of the British Empire; three Dr Whos; veterans of the Royal Shakespeare and National Theatre Companies; collective winners of hundreds of awards for their performances on stage and screen.

Frank and Percy goes on general lease in the UK early 2027 (distributed by Icon Film Distribution).
