LGBT History Month Tour in London

Meet outside Stoke Newington Town Hall. Discover the significance of Stoke Newington Town Hall in relation to the ‘Pits and Perverts Support the Miners’ campaign from the 1980s, as well as the queer ‘Molly’ subculture of the 1700s. Learn about the legendary residents of Abney Park Cemetery—featured in Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” music video—including pioneering drag kings and the leading figures of Music Hall. You will also explore the important distinction between cottaging and cruising! The tour will conclude at The Outsiders Gallery, where you can view the current exhibition, FRUIT MACHINE, showcasing the artworks of 1970s GLF activist Andrew Lumsden.
