The UK’s LGBTQ+ festival, Body Movements, is extending to Southwark Park for its Summer edition. Body Movements is a festival uniting bodies across queer club culture, electronic music, art and more. Founded by Clayton Wright, Saoirse Ryan and Simon Denby, their goal is to create a platform that supports LGBTQI music, art, charities and community projects. Body Movements will host their first fully outdoor festival this August in the beautiful Southwark Park, unifying an eclectic variety of LGBTQI+ artists from across the UK and beyond.

Since it began in 2021, this event has become a focal point in the community’s calendar. It celebrates identity and expression within the diverse network of the queer community. The upcoming event aims not only to continue the success of previous gatherings but also to signify a new milestone in the team’s commitment to providing a safe and welcoming space for global queer talent.

The festival aims to create a new entry point for underrepresented artists from the queer community; Body Movements Festival has teamed up with international art collective The Queer Archive and has selected 10 artists who will be showcasing their work across the festival on a larger-than-life scale. Each piece will have a QR code, allowing festivalgoers to purchase the art and learn more about each artist.

With plans to broaden this idea further, this new collaboration aims to bring together like-minded artists and creative audiences through the festival. With plans to broaden this into a further extended program, this is just a starting point for this unique and promising collaboration.
