G-A-Y: RITA ORA

05/05/12: You’d be forgiven for assuming last Saturday’s star act had Heaven packed to the rafters simply because she’s ‘Hot Right Now’ – but Rita Ora seemed hell-bent on showing there’s a little bit more to it than that.

A picture in her all black bomber, spaghetti crop top, hot pants, ankle boots and diamante headband – trademark tube of blood red lippy generously run around lips that could be filed under ‘A for Angelina’ – Ora certainly had an aura about her that had the boys howling at the stage lights.

Flanked by an afro-puffed, taut bodied and string-vested twosome, plus her live band; the smiling songstress launched into the dance floor electrifier ‘Hot Right Now’. That was officially the moment most of us stopped being able to see her clearly over other’s shoulders, as the crowd somehow began to defy gravity with their skyward reaction to the track!

What I did manage to catch in snatches was Ora disposing of her jacket and jumping straight into ‘Roc the Life’, swiftly followed by ‘Party and Bullshit’ before cranking the boys up a little more with her Destiny’s child cover ‘Say My Name’.

Latest single ‘RIP’ was the final track of the night, by which point Ora’s dancers were topless and shining like the floors of Annie’s orphanage, true to the track – Rita sang like someone had just pressed record, and her mellifluous tones yet again took the floor by storm. We were certainly in need to rest in pieces after this bombastic G-A-Y PA… She delivered.
