Halloween Extravaganza hosted by the Ladies of Llangollen

Nov 2, 2023 @ 7:30 pm9:30 pm

£25

Taking you back to a time when queers were more visible and accepted than you thought, A Queer Georgian Social Season explores the birth of the Gothic movement – a fascination with the ghostly, the ghastly, and the supernatural, which permeated all aspects of the arts. Who better to lead you through this fascinating movement than two Gothic queer personages of the time: the ‘Ladies of Llangollen’, Eleanor Butler [1739–1829] and Sarah Ponsonby [1755-1831]) – two upper-class Irish women who lived together as a couple. Theirs is a fascinating tale. This is a uniquely immersive night and eerily magical event within this unconventional venue. Leave your preconceptions at the door, fetch a drink from the bar, and come as yourself – with or without bells!
