The Grand Dame of Soho is gearing up for crimbo! Okay, apologies for use of the word “crimbo”. It won’t happen again. Anyway, Comptons know how to do festive. Even stepping foot in there makes you feel like you’re in a Christmas Carol. Well, if Scrooge was a fit, furry bartender who generously gives you pints and cheeky winks. God those barmen are hot. Love them. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, Christmas. We decided to chirpse Comptons’ gorgeous James Bartlett to find out what he and general manager Neil have got in store. Phwoar!

Are you excited for the festive season? Are you a Mariah Carey or an Ebeneezer Scrooge?

We are very excited this year, particularly for our showcase next Thursday. Mzz Kimberley has been working hard on creating a show to remember and we’ll be giving away loads of mulled wine and fizz to see in the festive season. Neil is very much a Mariah Carey, I’ll become less of a scrooge when the day gets closer!

What can we expect from a Compton’s Christmas?

We’re going to be staying open until 2am from now until Christmas on Fridays and Saturdays with DJ sets from Tasty Tim every Thursday, Fat Tony, Miswhite, Gordon John and HiFi Sean. We’ll also be opening the bar for a few hours on Christmas Day as we would rather spend the day with our regulars!!

Which of our favourite family members will be showing up?

We never know who will be showing up to surprise us, but that’s half the fun of being here! Tasty Tim’s Thursdays always see a fun group of drag queens and that James Egan keeps promising to pop in but as of yet no sign

Any special surprise presents waiting under the tree?

Neil has been really good to me this year and I’ve managed to get more or less everything replaced in the bar with our final present of new loos in the spring!

Who are you hoping comes down the chimney this year?

As long as we get our regular bunch of amazing customers we’ll be happy! But Theo James would also do just nicely…

What should we get for the Grand Dame of Soho? She IS our favourite relative after all.

She’s been a lucky girl this year, but I know a certain General Manager that’s always looking for a new uniform to show off!

If Santa was hitting on you under the mistletoe… would you be into it?

Right now? Yes!

Any New Years resolutions for the Grand Dame?

New toilets! Enough said about that!
