LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED – A campaign to support the LGBTQ+ over 50s – URGENT APPEAL

Love Is Not Cancelled

LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED is a campaign to support the LGBTQ+ over 50s community that are most at risk, supported by queer nightlife.

Little Gay Brother & Opening Doors London have teamed up to shine a light on how the current crisis is affecting vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community and raise much needed proceeds to support those at risk.

In recent weeks, Opening Doors London members have been devastatingly affected by the COVID 19 virus, with some members in hospital fighting for their lives, others trapped at home with no support, and upsettingly, some passing away without anyone to help cover costs of their funeral.

Opening Doors London has always worked to help the older LGBTQ+ community with housing needs and offer a companionship scheme for the lonely which supports those with mental health issues; but now the pressure is really on to keep our older LGBTQ+ community safe, well and loved during this pandemic.

opening doorsClayton Wright, founder of Little Gay Brother, has partnered with Opening Doors to launch the ‘Love Is Not Cancelled’ initiative.

“As the events industry has had to shut its doors, not only has the UK has lost some of its most important community hubs for LGBTQ+ people, but opportunities to raise funds and drive awareness of the more vulnerable members of the community have also come to a halt.

This t-shirt is a rallying call to ALL; created by Little Gay Brother and supported by those who work in nightlife, music, the arts, events, their fans and more; to look beyond the closures and start to help those most vulnerable within our community, as they are in crisis too.

The queer scene is more than just DJs, music, drag queens and parties; it’s made up of so many incredible LGBTQIA + people who come and support each event. And importantly, our scene would be nothing without those pioneering trailblazers who paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today. The older LGBTQ+ generation now needs our help.”

Working with artist Charlotte Smith aka Artwork by Blondie, Little Gay Brother have launched the ‘Love Is Not Cancelled’ T-Shirt which is available NOW from Everpress, with all profits* going to Opening Doors London. We now ask anyone that can afford to support, to buy a t-shirt and share this message of love with your friends.
