THE DRESS: A photographic exhibition by Bari Goddard at The Bonnington Gallery.

DARLING, WHAT A RIOT!

THE DRESS is an exhibition of photographs by Bari Goddard at the newly reopened Bonnington Gallery in Vauxhall from 1 to 31 March.

The exhibition comprises a collection of photographs in which each subject has been posed in the same discarded wedding dress. Each ‘tableau’ has its own unique mood, and the characters in the story of THE DRESS include Holly Johnson, Adele Anderson of Fascinating Aida, Pippa Dee of the RVT, Charlotte Hunter of Emmerdale, members of Then Jerico and a host of gay, lesbian, straight, trans and non-binary people.

“Due to the skilful and thoughtful selection of models, Bari formally poses them in the most intriguing and sometimes disturbing way. The main theme that connects all of them is the discarded, tattered wedding dress itself, which, in this context, reveals and hides simultaneously. He is first and foremost a storyteller.” – Review, Andrija Seifried, Zagreb.

THE DRESS is from 1 – 31 March at Bonnington Gallery, Bonnington Centre Community Association, 11 Vauxhall Grove, London SW8 1TD, United Kingdom.

The Bonnington Centre and Café are community-owned and run projects in the middle of Vauxhall in Lambeth – just a short walk from the tube and bus station. Bari is giving 50% of the proceeds from the exhibition to go towards the centre, which has relied on volunteers for its refurbishment – volunteers such as Pippa from the RVT! Big THANK YOU to the volunteers!
