Anyhoo, before that happens we’ve plenty of cabaret to point you at and this month I thought we’d look at slightly different sorts of drag shows. Variety is the spice of life they say, and we like it spicy! So here’s a couple of brunches, a couple of games nights and one big bus!
Pick no.1 – Sheila Simmonds Busy Lady Bingo
If you go down to the Welly on a Tuesday, you’re sure of a fun night and it’s impossible not to turn your frown upside down with Sheila Simmonds Busy Lady Bingo. Booking is free but essential as these nights are always packed with punters looking to get lucky with the balls and win prizes and CASH! Take a glance at the Duke Of Wellington on socials for details!
Pick no.2 – Angel’s Drag Brunch
A brand new brunch is on the scene, presented by Shar Cooterie – Drag Idol UK Champion of 2024. There’s delicious food, bottomless fizz and songs and games a plenty. Visit theangelofbow.co.uk for details and bookings.
Pick no.3 – The London Drag Bus
Already going great guns in other cities, The Dragbus is about to start it’s regular tours of London, starting with Rose Garden as your tour guide on 2nd November!
You get to experience a sight seeing trip with a queen at the helm giving you a unique take on the city, with drinks available, songs and laughter. You won’t want to see the city any other way after this!
Have a look at dragbus.co.uk for details.
Pick no.4 – The Carwash drag brunch
Bringing people together on the dance floor through disco and funk since 1989, The Carwash in London is everything you’d want from something called ‘The Carwash’.
It seems that their Drag Brunches are no exception. There’s no room for wallflowers here and there’s lots on offer.
Check out carwash.co.uk for info and bookings.
Pick no.5 – Play Your Cards Right – Miss Penny
My much MUCH older sister, Miss Penny, pops into London every Wednesday with her giant pack of cards and deep pockets for an evening of song, patter, and playing your cards right!
You’ll find her at Halfway every week from 8:30 so why not pop along and relieve her of a few bank notes if you can get higher and lower in the right places.
Keep an eye on Halfway II Heaven on those socials to keep informed!
A Spotlight on…. The Royal Vauxhall Tavern
We couldn’t get to the end of the year without turning our attention to this bastion of history and culture important to the LGBTQ+ scene in London.
The RVT has been home to some of the biggest names you can think of, and welcomed some true icons through it’s doors that include Helen Mirren, Freddie Mercury and Ian McKellen – a true trilogy of Queens!
And this landmark is still going strong! Have a look at my ‘Spotlight On…’ this month and you might discover something you didn’t know!
A City In Seconds…. Northampton
It’s the home of Alan Carr and the birth place of the story of ‘Kinky Boots’ – but there’s only one place to catch drag here. So if you find yourself between Milton Keynes and Coventry of a weekend – my little video presentation will introduce you to The Boston in Northampton.
