Bruce Castle Museum and Archive offers author talks, book clubs, film screenings, and regular meet-ups for our LGBTQ+ community to attend and enjoy. There are also two workshops for different age groups to become ‘Zinesters’.
The museum’s curator, Deborah Hedgecock, will lead a ‘Walking with Pride! An LGBTQ+ History Tour’ from Turnpike Lane to Finsbury Park on Sunday, 23 February (11am-1pm/Meet outside Roj Café in Ducketts Common at 10:45am for an 11am start).

• A special talk and Q&A session with the local author of queer historical fiction, Carmella Lowkis, who will be reading her first book, Spitting Gold, at Hornsey Library on Monday, 24 February, from 5:30pm to 7pm
• Wise Thoughts’ FREE drop-in service for LGBTQ+ people only, aged 16+, at Wood Green Library on Friday, 14 February, between 5pm and 7pm. Spaces are limited, and registration in advance (only once) is mandatory
• Two ‘Becoming a Zinester! A Zine-making Workshops’ – one for LGBTQ+ people aged between 16 to 25 on Saturday, 22 February (10:30am-12:30pm) and the other for adults only/25+ on Sunday, 23 February (2pm-4pm)

Wood Green Library will host a ‘Health Booster: Small Steps To A Healthier You’ event on Tuesday, 18 February (2pm-5pm).
Learn what’s on your plate at our ‘Nutrition Corner’ and engage in gentle exercise in the ‘Move Your Body Zone.’
The ‘Mental Wellness Hub’ is where you can discover and learn all about stress management techniques. It also contains some further information regarding cancer screenings, healthy habits, hydration, and immunisations.
Meanwhile, over at Marcus Garvey Library, young people aged 14+ can express themselves through spoken word poetry, build confidence in writing and performance, connect with like-minded individuals and learn from Shocka’s expertise in rap and spoken word in a five-week course entitled Unspoken Truth.
This workshop, funded by the central government and supported by the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, will be held every Monday afternoon (5pm-6:30pm) from 17 February onwards.
Two semi-finalists from the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year competition, Rosie Phillips and Jenna Waldren, will stage their duo ‘Figuring It Out’ exhibition at the Original Gallery in Hornsey Library between Monday, 10 February, and Saturday, 15 February.
They’ll showcase their recent work spanning commissions, personal projects and residencies. You can also expect an exploration of their journeys on the popular reality series (Monday 10 February-Friday 14 February: 1pm-7pm. Saturday 15 February: 9am-5pm. Private View: Wednesday 12 February: 6pm-9pm).
Hornsey Library will also be holding a new exhibition featuring the work of local artists Nic Bevers and Will Lewer from Monday, 17 February to Sunday, 2 March. A private viewing of their work will be held on Thursday, 27 February.
