The new music video DADDY by Danish/Kosovo-Albanian artist GIMI was shot at night in Amager Fælled, one of Copenhagen’s most well-known cruising spots. It follows GIMI as he searches for intimacy with four older men, whom he cast through Grindr.

Directed by Malthe Kalbakk and filmed by director of photography Christoffer Torp, DADDY captures a cold Danish winter night among bare trees. The video focuses on the moments leading up to intimacy, such as lingering glances, anticipation, circling, and the chase, rather than explicit content. It presents a dark yet sensual exploration of seeking connections in places not built for such experiences.

Historically, parks and public spaces have been among the few places where gay men could meet. DADDY revisits this landscape, portraying cruising as a language filled with risk, longing, and the ever-present desire to connect, alongside the modern dating apps that shape queer dating today.

Musically, the song represents the darkest corner of GIMI’s debut album, Greatest Hits. It is a pulsating anthem that blends Balkan percussion and traditional Albanian elements with electronic dance pop. With themes of power dynamics, GIMI wrote it to confront the shame often associated with his own desires.

GIMI told QX, “For so long, queer intimacy had to exist in the shadows—expressed through glances, silences, and hidden places. I wanted to create a film that highlights that tension and brings it into the light.”

DADDY had its premiere at the Prishtina Queer Festival in September 2026, where it was met with an enthusiastic response from a full audience.

DADDY will be released on October 7, 2026.
