03/08/12: We’re not gonna lie, like most of the country, we too got caught up in an Olympic viewing loop most of last week. Thankfully our lovely Deputy Editor Lee Dalloway was there to drag (literally) our asses kicking and screaming away from the goggle box on Friday night; and on the proviso that she left her own drag pièce de résistance, ‘Demi Dalloway’, at home (sorry boss), we made a beeline to our local, Central Station, which was bustling with activity, proving not everyone was at home watching Clare Balding!

Brighton beaut Dave Lynn took to Central’s erection in a fabulous pink gown looking as sassy as ever. Opening with ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ (how apt) and continuing in the same vain; with a selection of big numbers from Dusty (Springfield) right through to Cher’s ‘Burlesque’. Dave even had some very willing theatre-type guys from the audience ‘helping’ (or hindering) with the choreography.

Poor loves. Our Dave, being the dab hand at spotting talent, honed in and plucked out a girl by the name of ‘Patsy’… we think? Vodka had been consumed by the bucket load by this point, naturally. It only turned out that she was a singer/actor! Patsy reluctantly, at first, joined Dave in a few duets including one of our all time faves: ‘Maybe This Time’, by the very talented (if a little barmy) Liza Minnelli.

They complimented each other beautifully. What a great sport she was. We loved the stage lighting too, which was adapted to suit the mood/theme of each song. The devil is in the detail as they say. The show culminated in a wonderful  ‘Bassey’ encore before Dave slipped off into darkness. Bona night, dears!
