79CXR FEATURING ROSE GARDEN

23/09/11: Late last Friday night I found myself being sent to one of London’s newest cabaret venues, 79CXR, and I was greeted by a bar rammed full of merry West End boys all awaiting drag superstar Rose Garden to launch herself onto the stage, and she did it in style.

Opening her show with her signature theme ‘We’re Gonna Do It’, the crowd went wild for Madame Garden, who had described her look as “Patsy Stone on acid” to me backstage. Rose was decked out in a retro, 60’s style psychedelic look. How does she keep looking so fantastic at… 36?

Rose blasted through a set that included her pulling little old me onstage to act as a backing dancer, amongst others, for the ‘I Just Can’t Get Enough’ number. Embarrassed? Hell, yeah!

She sang, meandered her way through the crowd, straddled the infamous CXR banister, belted out a bit of Evita and even fell in love with bar boy Rem for a split second.

There was no sign of the famous hula-hoop though, maybe next time? A fantastic show indeed and her ladyship was definitely on top form.

Everyone danced, drank, sang and partied in typical 79CXR fashion. I am preparing my liver for my next night of debauchery with you guys.
