25/10/14: Ok, Friday night probably isn’t the best time to have a first date with someone. And taking a potential new love/lust/conquest to Soho is probably like taking a hungry dog to a butchers and expecting him to eat dried kibble and like it.
But enough of my threadbare self-esteem, thankfully we got the perfect spot – Ku Bar! No, not the big Chinatown version, with its never-ending throng of twinkalinks twerking to Nicole Scherzinger, but Baby Ku on Frith Street.
A much more chilled, loungier Friday night atmosphere. The lights are lower, the crowd are less ‘up for it’ but still fun, and the music is less pop diva screeching over a pop beat, and more grown-up, funky fare.
We slinked upstairs and managed to grab a gorgeous spot by the massive windows overlooking a bustling Soho. The lighting was perfect (read: I looked 25), the atmosphere was spot-on, the conversation was flowing. The stage was set… I leaned in for a kiss… He cocked his head the other way to check out a bar boy. Eh, all in a day…
So, what have we learnt? We have a gorge lil’ venue to take a boy out any night… We just need better homosexual dates to fill it. Baby Ku – two floors, 7 days a week.
