30/06/12: It’s rare that a London lovin’ scene queen like me will venture outside of zone 1, duckie – apart from that time I woke up on Peckham High Street next to a dwarf… God knows what I’d been on that night, luvvies! But, slap me on the bottom with a Woman’s Weekly, my Central London snobbery was surely disproved by the evening we sashayed down to the FABULICIOUS Riverside Tavern in Kent.
This huge, sprawling venue had a lovely cosier, more countryside feel with a wonderfully eclectic set of punters. There’s the hot twinks, the daddies, the fashionistas, the fag hags, gay gurls and fellow tranny sistas. It’s a real melting pot of loveliness and I was literally foaming at the crotch at some of the hotties! Plus, the gorgeous smoking terrace by the river made the usual trip outside for a sneaky fag an absolute dream!
But of course dear, we were here for the main event – only flamin’ 90s dance legends Livin’ joy! She tore up the room, honey! Those classic club hits really got the party started and, even though half of the clientele looked like they were still swimming in their father’s nutsacks when they originally came out, everyone knew the choons, and it reminded this old drag diva of a much more innocent time. I’m still a ‘Dreamer’ though, dear and I still enjoy wonderful venues like this. Thank you Riverside Tavern – we’ll be back!
