NBS

14/12/12: Coming back to New Bloomsbury Set is like going to see a dear old friend, with the added benefit of colourful characters, buff men and more booze than you can shake an Oliver Reed at.

Yes, the NBS gang were gearing up for the festive season with the style and sophistication we’ve become accustomed to from our favourite basement bar. Courtesy of his ever-lickable bulging biceps, hunky DJ Shariff was banging out the pop classics and feelgood tuneage to a mega busy room full of lovelies… and thank you whoever sent out the ‘bring all your hottie mates’ memo.

It clearly worked, as our tongues were on the floor at some of the fellas in attendance… (Watch out hunky bar boy Aaron, you have competition in the ‘fit as’ department). I’m now going to stop talking about men like some desperate old spinster and move on to the feel-good vibe.

The great thing about NBS is everyone intermingles and talks to strangers, to the point where you can walk in knowing no-one and leave with three new best friends. Or at least a few more adds on Facebook.

This wonderfully warm vibe comes from the top down, thanks to scathingly witty gaffer Tom and life and soul of the bar Jez, who glides around the room effortlessly with a pithy anecdote and drunken cackle. Still not been? New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to check it out, as they’re open til’ 2am!
