THE EDGE

16/02/03: It’s always awesome when a bar on our fair gay scene celebrates a birthday, ‘cos the homoxuals know how to put together a glitter-fuelled, fanfare parping, gogo boy thrusting anniversary better than any other group on the planet!

The fact that The Edge is celebrating an amazing 21 years of getting Soho well and truly lubricated not only gives a sense of comfort that there are still some scene stalwarts watching over the younger whippersnappers, but also that if you serve the community with a well run, fabulously decorated bar with a friendly team and a good party vibe, the community will reward you by coming back… and bringing their booze-loving friends!

Last weekend was certainly buzzing, as talented spinners Zach Burns, Chris Brogan and Doug Silva, who always knows how to bring the party, served up a melee of beats across two days that were both hands-in-the-air and booty bumpin’ thumpers to a slew of late licence-lovin’ lushes. Buoyed by the birthday shenenigans, and the fact that The Edge seems to be one of only a handful of queer establishments you can party past midnight in this town, the atmosphere was electric, as revellers stared slack-jawed at the tantalizing gogos whilst enjoying the spruced-up surrounds of the ground floor bar.

The corner house was truly jumpin’, as the ever-wonderful Felicia Van Cartier schmoozed the crowds, and the now legendary Landlady of Edge Towers, Chadlina Beaverhausen, was trying to tell us something about the first floor undergoing a sexy nip/tuck in the next fortnight, but we could barely decipher her slurs as she poured us yet another celebratory shot. Bonne anniversaire, ma cherie!
