BEAR NECESSITY
Posted on January 28, 2012
28/01/12: For bears and boys who like to hug them, things certainly got cuddley past their bedtime on Saturday night.
Amsterdam’s furry export Bear Necessity found Hidden at the weekend, and so did a vast array of beards, five o’clock shadows and all that grows in between. Vests, pecs, check shirts and the odd leather harness brushed up against one another to the sound of Louis Lennon’s fur ball of dance and Latin house.
Guest DJ Sharon O’Love let down her hair with a more progressive sound, while DJ Pistol Pete got everyone in the second room tangled-up in funky disco. Host Andy Garcia aka Dr. Woof welcomed us at the door, and the unpretentious homecoming continued from the outdoor astro-turfed cafe to the sweaty playroom for boys who couldn’t wait for a bear hug before being tucked up into bed.
With the scene sometimes being a little hairy for newcomers, Bear Necessity is certainly straightening things out.
