BODY TALK

18/06/11: Who’s getting dirty on the dance floor? Body Talk’s getting dirty on the dance floor! Part of the Dalston Superstore line-up of regular shin-digs is this hipster haven of deranged dance moves and lascivious looks. For the last year and a half, promoter Rokk has served up 80s boogie, soul and funk with some 90s hip-hop thrown in the upstairs bar. Downstairs in the cave of sweat, disco lights and moustaches original house inspires the crowd to move with the single-mindedness of those on a mission… they certainly weren’t ‘dancing on their own’. Past special guests have included Twat Boutique DJs, Monarchy, Chesca, Jeffrey Hinton, Jon Pleased WImmin and Hannah Holland. Even superstar singer Robyn played at their 1st anniversary last year, she also named her album after the night. Pulling a diverse crowd of homo’s and don’t knows, the vibe is friendly and diverse. It’s a refreshing addition to the London scene to have a night defined by music and dancing rather than sexual stereotyping. Upcoming parties will include sets from NYC house music producer/DJ Jacques Renault on 24th July. There is also a special post-Lovebox party happening on Sunday 17th July; a night combined with Trailer Trash/HotBoy Dancing Spot and Body Talk, including a very special guest to spin some choice selections, so you better ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ (wink wink).
