01/08/15 – 02/08/15: Let’s be honest, Pride festivals can be hit or miss depending on a number of variables: the weather, how drunk you get and the number of cute boy’s numbers you go home with.
Thankfully, the sun was shining down on the gays of Brighton and the thousands that had travelled to Preston Park this year. (Watch out for those vest marks, lads). In between fluttering our lashes in failed flirting attempts and funfair rides so fast we almost did an Emily Rose all over the waltzers, they put on amazing acts on all fronts.
The Girls Tent was getting camper than Leslie Jordan throwing a bitch-fit in Starbucks, while ‘turn up’ was the flavour down at Urban World (knew we’d need our twerk game at some point this weekend).
And Chris Brogan got the bears singing along with feel-good vocal house. The WildFruit tent was where it was at, with Maze&Masters killing the game; we hadn’t seen gays go crazy like this since Bruce became Caitlyn. Ms. Dynamite went out with a bang and had everyone skanking to ‘Wile Out’, before Ella Henderson sent chills over the crowd with number one single, ‘Ghost’.
The night finished with DJ legend Fat Boy Slim tearing it up under the big top – bitches so desperate to get a listen they were tryna jump barriers. Naturally, we were there until the bitter end (and missing our last train, whoops!) There was plenty to be proud of this year – although perhaps not the dishevelled state we got home in! Roll on next year…
