Carpet Burn

18/10/14: QX Club News gatecrashed the outlandish antics at Eagle London as Carpet Burn combined a fantastic 5th birthday bash with legendary Lycra lady Melonie Peel’s Alternative Miss World Soirée last Saturday.

Celebrating a whole half-decade of sore knees and other sundry shagpile shenanigans, a carnivalesque atmosphere prevailed amidst the flag-festooned, bunting-bedecked Eagle environs as the Carpet Burn crew welcomed an oddball association of retro fans and fashion freaks for devastating DJ throwbacks and more at one of London coolest LGBT venues.

Bubble-permed highlights saw deck duo Wes Baggaley and Lee Thomas taking a psychedelic trip on eighties, nineties and noughties classics that had us wiggin’ out through the night to tracks we thought we’d forgotten from the first time round.  Elsewhere, a fantasy fantasia ensued as pole-dancing performance artiste, Queenicorn, emerged from a cardboard replica of Big Ben for a strange and magical live show.

Meanwhile, near-mythical 90s star, Miss Melonie Peel, showed off her creative talents in a costume to make young pretenders weep as the party antics continued through ‘til late.

Here’s to many more weird and wonderful times at Carpet Burn to come!
