06/08/11: QX Club News wrapped up warm for summer as a blustery August squall swept across Vauxhall last Saturday.
England’s weather can always be relied upon to disappoint, but the Carpet Burn boys couldn’t have picked a better night for a tongue in cheek ‘Saucy Seaside Fiesta’, complete with inflatable palm trees, beach balls and the reassuring patter of drizzle on corrugated plastic in the Eagle garden.
Irony aside, Saturdays at the Eagle are going from strength to strength of late, with a crazed deluge of freaks and funksters worthy of flagship Sunday-nighter, Horse Meat Disco, giving it up for an end of the pier DJ set courtesy of Martyn Fitzgerald on the dazzling disco dancefloor.
From seminal house classics to retro throwaway soul anthems, bringing the spirit of Mr Whippy-crazed eighties Margate mash-ups to the mean streets of South London, the crowd channeled the lobster-tanned vibe through ‘til the small hours!
