01/12/12: London’s sassiest she-males were out in force as Carpet Burn marked World AIDS Day with a shagpile spectacular in the form of a ‘Tastiest Tranny Ball’ at the Eagle last Saturday.
Featuring a creative line-up of colourful contestants ranging from beefy blokes in lopsided shyckles to some of the most surreal styling this side of a 1980’s Leigh Bowery dressing-up party, scene superstar, Roy Inc, presided over a glamorous charity gala in aid of GMFA, that had six footers teetering in their stillies for a cheering audience on the hallowed Eagle runway.
Our faves included ‘Miss Competition’, dazzling in black lace and nipple tassels, plus a stunning entrant, whose name we only managed to catch as ‘Miles’ as (s)he checked out her sequin-studded, sewn on ruby lips and illuminated hair-do in the gents.
Meanwhile, an illustrious judging panel took in the likes of top trannies, Tasty Tim and Lady Lloyd, plus Time Out’s Paul Burston – we don’t envy the tough job on their hands picking out a winner. Elsewhere, the guyz, galz and inbetweeners got down to it on the dancefloor, with a scintillating soundtrack of chuggin’ choons from Johnny Kalifornia, as the shameless shenanigans continued through ‘til late!
