21/07/13: Glitter and sweat rained upon the paved streets of darkened Hackney as the revellers spilled, hooting and howling, out of Lovebox Sunday searching for an after party to continue the party on.
Suddenly a red-wigged tranny in PVC boots climbed upon a bin, fell off, then climbed on again and screeched: “To the ‘Superstore!” As one, we followed our drag messiah in a romping carnival-esque procession of strutting and dancing through the winding alleys of the East End up to ever-sunny Dalston, where we fell in a majestic display of excess into the ever-splayed legs of the Dalston Superstore.
Donning our pearls and flicking our weave, we pulled up our jockstrap, adjusted our crotch, and ordered a line of shots the length of the bar. ‘When in Rome…’ With DJs Hannah Holland and The Lovely Jonjo, plus Borja Pena, Squeaky and Grizzle taking over the venue, the beats were soon pumping in our blood as well as the tequila, and we headed downstairs to the jam-packed, laser-filled club where we cut a rug with the fabulous and the trannies in the carnal heat.
We woke up with the broken end of a high heel, a lock of a stranger’s hair and a naked boy in our bed. That was one hell of an after-party… ‘Superstore, we salute you and all who merrily sail in you.
