Divine Bingo

18/07/14: If you live in London you live with terror. Less the political kind and more the tranny type. I am less fearful of a burka clad woman than I am of a screaming cock in a frock off her clock hurtling towards me in garish whore makeup and a fright wig.

Luckily, MI6 in association with QX, Amy Grindhouse, The Eagle and Pecadillo Pictures rounded up a few and detained them at the ICA for the UK premiere of director Jeffrey Schwarz’s bio of our blessed biggy piggy in a wiggy, Divine for a Night of Drag Terrorism and Tranny Bingo.

“I Am Divine” is a touching portrait of minge fringe drag artiste turned cult movie star Glenn Harris Milstead aka Divine’s rise from bullied Baltimore boy to John Waters’ movie muse and international recording star who sadly, or quite fittingly, died on the verge of mainstream superstardom.

Hostesses Queen of Drag Meth and her evil daughter Ruby Wednesday worked the crowd into a screen-scream frenzy helped by the ICA bar’s Pink Flamingo and Female Trouble cocktail specials.

Afterwards Meth and Ruby stole the spotlight and shone it bright with a sharp, smart wicked tart dance number we could’ve watched all night. Unfortunately the real terror began when we had to suffer through Tranny Bingo! Seriously?! Divine? Bingo? At least someone won a box of chocolate turd. But turd eating contest would have been more appropriate.

Post-party dance to DJ Hello Mozart in the bar and plenty more Pink Flamingo cocktails and soon I was a tranny terror hurtling down the Mall shrieking “I Am Divine”!
