Vampires gnash at steaming piles of cheesy chips, ketchup dripping from their fangs, Sexy kittens cry in the mirrors of their student hall dorms after realising how basic they are, while anthropology undergrads discuss whether dressing up as Rachel Dolezal is cultural appropriation or not.
Right, enough of that, this is not a Neil Gaiman novel (thank god), it’s flamin’ QX Magazine! Fag rag! Basically I went to East Bloc, the popular East London gay club, on Halloween, and it was WELL fun. I got chatting to a werewolf from Berlin who was adamant he was still in Berlin.
He kept flicking his long braids and baring his teeth, which was actually quite hot. But I think that, in the words of Little Mix, he had taken a sip of some secret potion.
And, sadly, it did not make me fall in love. The night was HANDSOME: HALLOKWEEN, billed as their only party where it’s ok to look like you’ve just been dug up. And people did. God knows what they looked like when they emerged blinking in the 6am Shoreditch sunlight.
The back room was the place to be, full of sexily spooky ripple-muscled boys in various states of unearthly undress. Spike from Buffy would have loved it. He’d totes fit in at East Bloc actually – slicked back hair and a leather jacket! That’s like THE East Bloc look.
He’d probably be a host and be on all the flyers. Anyway, well done East Bloc, the night of the YEAR. Ten points to Slytherin.
